Dear Postdocs,

The SURPAS sports committee is very excited to take you to Angel Island – one of the Bay Area’s most beautiful spots – on August 29th!

What: Angel Island exploration

When: Saturday, August 29th, 2015

We will be able to take 20 people, so register quickly to reserve your spot!

The most challenging part of a trip to Angel Island is to make it to the ferry in San Francisco by the time it leaves (9.45am from Pier 41). At this point, we are planning to meet in campus (top of the Oval) at 8am. (We may modify this based on road construction, etc.): https://www.google.com/maps?daddr=37.429069,-122.169728&hl=en&ll=37.429108,-122.168618&spn=0.00322,0.005944&sll=37.429014,-122.169433&sspn=0.003221,0.007988&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=18&t=m&z=18

We will take the 9:45am ferry from Pier 41, which will get us to Angel Island at 10:10am.  The last ferry back leaves the island at 4:30pm, which will take us back to Pier 41 at 5:30pm.  We will spend the day hiking on and exploring the island.  (While we're hoping that there won't be any fog and while the weather has been nice on Angel Island, there is always a chance of fog, given that we're in the bay area...).

Transportation & Parking: We will meet on campus to organize car pooling. Please help us out if you have a car. If you don't have a car, please bring some cash to share the parking fee/gas. (We will update on the parking fees - I'm estimating $5-$10/ person).

What to bring: Water, lunch, sunscreen, cash for gas & parking (~$5-10/person), layers!! (it can get pretty windy).

Cancellation policy: Rain or shine (we'll go regardless).

Sign-up: If you plan on joining us, please fill out the sign-up sheet: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UdJ4Cpc2Ap1BqKSRYBKnjI-CsUvXb3_ts__VkJBqK9I/viewform?usp=send_form

Sign-up fee: There is a $16 fee for the ferry. Upon registration we will provide you with further information.

The event is open to Stanford postdoc community, including family members and friends of postdocs (each postdoc can bring 1 guest). If the registration goes over 20 people, we will put further registrations on a wait-list and notify you of any openings.

Please feel free to contact us at surpassportsclub@gmail.com if you have any questions. We are very excited to take you to Angel Island on August 29th!

Sincerely,

The SURPAS Sports Committee (Merle & Peng)
